My uncle gifted me a honeymoon package at Villa Park. Apparently, he had enjoyed his honeymoon at Hotel Dasaprakash, Ooty many many moons ago.
I was a bit skeptical - My wife was used to the comforts after staying at US for five years and I must confess that while I have not forgotten my Indian Middle class background, my social profile had taken a major upswing after my job at US!

I was extremely happy to see the Hotel in real swell condition. All the modern comforts are there and the new management has managed to keep the charm of old bunglow intact.Their Udipi Sri Krishna Restaurant serves excellent food as my uncle had predicted. Their Almora restaurant, serving North Indian cuisine is a let down though.

My tips:
1. Ooty as a honeymoon destination is a passe. If you still want to come to Ooty, then this Villa Park is a good bet.
2. It is a great place for family reunion though as old timers will rattle of their Ooty memoirs. I plan to host one next time I am in India. Suites at Villa Park, ooty- Daisy, Jasmine, Lavender and Vanilla are spacious and ideal for family reunion setting. Each room has wooden flooring,study, and a neat bathroom
In all, Ooty is not the place for Honeymoon. That does not take away any credit from Villa Park, Ooty.
