One generally associates all things mundane with Govt. Hotels. My entire attitude to MP Govt in general was changed after stay at Sheesh mahal.
This is a palace converted into a hotel. In fact, those looking to stay in a palace at an affordable cost should try this hotel. It is excellent option. The furniture and ambiance are that of royalty. It is not very grand but good enough to give you an impression of a small time king.

There are only limited number of rooms and hence you will not have to tolerate major crowd. If there is one thing that can be improved then it is the food they serve. It is not bad but not very delicious for the money they charge. room rent is okay for staying in palace but food is costly for what they serve
