Hotel Fairmount is not in the town but around 4 Kms away from town. That need not be a big worry as the hotel has an arrangement to drop and pick up guests from Shimla town. Just check with the hotel manager

The best part of Fairmount is that it is located on a hillock and hence the room offers excellent views. The walkways around the hotel are excellent for long walks to be one with the nature.

I will not say the food was bad - it was average. There are good hotels in Ram bazzar area of Shimla and you can have your lunch or dinner in one of these hotels. Also, the Ashiana hotel run by state tourism dept is worth a visit . It is near the Mall.

All in all - A decent place. is it the ultimate ...No!
