I stayed in Mahabalipuram, also called Mamallapuram by the locals, for a week in August 2007. After a disastrous night in one horribly dirty budget hotel full of mosquitos, filthy floors and a rude manager I lucked into finding Siva Guest House on Ottavadai Cross Street. Maybe just only 50 rupees more than the rest of the pack, Siva Guest House was very clean, with a friendly staff, rooms all had mosquito mesh on the windows, good beds with clean linen, cross ventilation, fresh paint everywhere, free soap and TP, etc. Really quite comfortable. Stayed the rest of the time here and would go back witout hesitation! Curt
