Yercaud is a pretty decent hill station and is often known as Poor Man's Ooty. We went there as weekend trip from Bangalore. Travel to Yercaud is the best part. We took the Bangalore - Krishnagiri - Dharmapuri - Omalur Route. It is the road going to Salem. To reach Yercaud you need not visit Salem town but take a turn at Omalur town. The ut 36 kms state highway from Omlar is as best as it can get with numerous turns and bends. Thick forest gives you company and the valley view below is excellent.
The Hotel Grand Palace is one of the best in Yercaud with pretty good view. management has optimized the view with a glass covered restaurant. There is one more cafe at the roof from where you can get the glimpse of yercaud lake.
Rooms of the hotel are pretty spacious and not stuffy.
All in all a positive experience.

Yercaud is not much of a place- nothing to see and do. Drive from Salem with 22 hair pin bends is the only exciting part of the weekend trip from bangalore.
Hotel Grand Palace per se is a good decent hotel. Rooms are clean and the staff are friendly though they have a tendency to keep muterring something!
Food is not the best you will find in Yercaud. It is very bad and suggest you avoid eating at this hotel.
