If you want to stay in a hotel near the mysore palace then this is not the one. If you want to stay in a palace at commoners cost then this is the hotel. It is away from city center but Mysore is not a big city and hence to commute around the city is not very difficult. It is not in a secluded part of mysore – in fact it is in one of the busy suburbs of mysore.

This was previously a palace meant for the royal women now converted into a heritage hotel. Tariff is on the higher side but the heritage value makes it worthwhile. The building has lot on interesting artifacts from the bygone era. The garden of pots makes the name “green hotel” apt. I would suggest garden suite if you can afford. Anyway insist on rooms in new block.

As can be expected in any palace hotel, the rooms are well furnished and have all the amenities. Some of the older rooms will do well with some upkeep. They serve traditional Indian food but I would not say that they are very tasty. Hotel would be even better place if the service levels were better than what they are. This is not to put you off – it is manageable but not excellent.

One thing that I like about this place is that the management ensures that most part of the profits go to charity.
