Reaching There:
Bangalore – Srirangapatna (on Mysore  Express way) – Take the Hunsur Road (road leading to Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary)– Virajpet - From Virajpet take the Madikeri Road and turn left after approximately 4 Kms to reach Kakkabe village. [Total: Around 250 kms from Bangalore]
By Bus : To Virajpet from Bangalore and local buses / vehicles thereafter

Trek starts from Naalkunaadu Palace in Kakkabe, Coorg district. Unlike the grand name, Naalkunaadu Palace is not a majestic palace but just a small building. From the palace one can either walk towards the peak or drive a little further as metalled road extends beyond the palace towards the peak and ends as a mud road. The trek thru the forests is extremely enjoyable with plenty of streams, flowers of different hues for company. The view from the peak is breathtaking and if Kukkabe villagers are to be believed, you can see the Arabian seacoast on a clear day. It is not a difficult trek and can be completed in three hours.
Some Tips:
1.Leeches could be an irritant and spoilsport. There are quite a few of them and if you are unlucky, they may take a fancy for your blood. Do not panic! Leeches are pretty harmless. This link  provides  information on how to handle a leech attack
2. Surprisingly, there is mobile coverage right till the peak. So if you really want to enjoy solitude and forget about the office – shut your mobile. Alternately, the fact that there is mobile coverage might be of some comfort to many urbanites
3. You can hire a guide from Kakkabe village for Rs. 200
