- From Bangalore, take a train to Madurai and then another to Theni.From Theni board a bus to Munnar
- Take a train from Bangalore to Coimbatore and then proceed by taxi or bus to Munnar
- Take a train from Bangalore to Ernakulam and then proceed by taxi to Munnar. The taxi from Ernakulam works economical as there are no interstate taxes to be paid
Bangalore to Munnar by train via Madurai
You need to board the 6732 Tuticorin Express, reach Madurai and then take another train to place called Theni. From Theni, there are buses and taxis to reach Munnar.
6732 Tuticorin Express starts from Bangalore Junction at 21:20 and reaches Madurai at 7:25 AM. From Madurai, Passenger train to Theni starts at 7:50 AM from Madurai and reaches Theni at 10 AM. From Theni, Munnar is 70 Kms and there are buses and taxis. Note, the 7:50 AM passenger is the only train to Theni and if you miss it, you need to take a bus to Theni
Bangalore to Munnar by Train Via Coimbatore
If you feel that Bangalore - Madurai - Theni - Munnar is too cumbersome, then take a train from Bangalore to Coimbatore and board a taxi from Coimbatore. Coimbatore to Munnar is approximately 160 Kms and takes 5 Hours by taxi.( Coimbatore to Munnar)If you do not want to take a taxi from Coimbatore, take a bus from Coimbatore to Udumalpet and then proceed to Munnar. (There are frequent buses to Udumalpet from Coimbatore and an hourly service from Udumalpet to Munnar)
