Coorg curry ! leftovers...

The same day, we just freshened up a bit and left the room. Since our hotel was situated in central coorg town, it was walking distance from all the places of interest such as the raja's seat, abbey falls, etc. The long road showed its effects on us once we were out and so decided to just do raja's seat and call it a day. We just took two bikes that evening to raja's seat which was just about 5 mins from the hotel.

Once we reached there it was a bity crowded, but then again, its a public place with a beautiful panoramic view of the road leading up to coorg.
Then again, since we always see the food side of life, we bought ourselves ice candies and a local chola mix.
The view was magnificient, with sunset around the corner.. it added to the magnificique.. take a look at the pic.it says it all.
this pic is just when the big red dollop went downhill..

heres us takin in the view..

OOOOHHH yea.. theres one small thing which slipped my mind just before deciding on which room to take. heres a room given to us.. Now, the doc, arvind, has problems with that room.. ask me why??? well its turns out that the room no. was 13.!!!!! that freaked him out !!! hahahahahaa !!! well to soothe him down, we moved 2 rooms downstream to 11. well all smiles now.. and back to the write up now..

We sat on the bench for a long time till late dusk.. almost till around 8 pm. and Arv was gettin a bit freaky with his photography spree so v decided to break after this pic. damn sathya made my pupils dilate thanx to his piercing flash on his cam !!

At the raja's seat, we decided to come back here at dawn to trek down the hill and check out daybreak. From there we went straight to the onkareshwar temple to thank the almighty for a safe trip and to persuade him to continue his good work.
The temple has this wierd thing. Heres a large tank in the centre of the temple complex and its full of catla fishes> .
the tanks in the centre of the pic.
Its significance is that they help keep the tank clean..hmm.. wierd. sadly though, we couldnt c any fishes as it was almost 9pm . The temple suffered a power cut as we were in it. As we came out, gautham just had a peek at the sky n WHOA! the sky was filled with stars !! it was the most beautiful night sky we had seen in a long time !! i guess its the downside of being a bangalorean or fr that matter a metropolitian. The sheer beauty of the sky was so striking that we sat there with our heads on the wall for almost half hour till the preists had to call it a day. so we left with a whole lotta giddy feeling thanks to blood rushing to our heads. But before we knew it, we were hatching dinner plans.!!
For dinner we went to this very dull lighted restobar which was more like a bar-resto. The place was flooded with people so much so we had to wait a while before the waiter seated us. Arvind n me had pandhi curry which was a local delicacy . it was amazing !! it was hot and the meat was good !! after the filling dinner we went to the hotel. the cold was getting to us on the way.

Yes i did leave a lot of things out cuz of privacy issues.
That night we were tired but we didnt wanna cut short our stay in coorg so decide to stay up. Of course sathya had other plans...
we tried our best to wake him up for a photo op. and this is wat we managed getting..

that was that for the first day of the trip...

Coorg curry! Day two…

The next day, everyone was prompt enough to wake up early to catch the dawn. It was still dark outside and the weather really chilly. Everyone shook away their blues, climbed on to our bikes and off we went to raja’s seat to do the pre-decided trekking... it was a downhill which was pretty easy. The weather was wat we’d expected of coorg.

The trek-way ..

We wanted to climb down and onto the next hill side asap as the rays of the sun almost hit us. So we stayed back to enjoy the view. It was mighty awesome. Heavy winds almost threw us off balance but it definitely gave us all runny noses! :P the pics actually show how heavy the winds were !!

Vague outlines …

After a while the winds calmed down and gave us a better photo op. The breathtaking view just had to be seen to believed The sharp crisp rays of the sun piercing thru the morning clouds and the birds flying past made for a picture perfect moment, in this case, a sony-erricson moment!! :P

Day-broke:

The serpentine road:

The view:

ok..enough of silly jokes.. During the trek back up, we decided to save time by splitting up breakfast between us. Gautham and I decided to head to the hotel, shower and suit up for the day while sathya and the doc went on for breakfast and when they returned, we’d swap. The plan worked out smooth and we actually did end up saving up some time.

Gautham and I went to the town centre for breakfast and the very hot idli-sambar at the udupi hotel was a welcome change from last nights pandhi curry. Some idli and coffee later, we went back to the hotel to find the other half of the gang ready for the day.

The previous evening, we decided to do abbey falls and talacauvery. These two spots were in complete opposite directions but we chose to do the falls first. The road leading up to the falls was tricky and the group split up for a while before regrouping. The weather and the roads made for a perfect day for motorcycling and the curves made the ride even more exciting. If only we had more powerful bikes. Nevertheless, the ride was fun …

Check out the curves dude.. :P

Doc trying psyche-therapy..

We stopped in the way for some pics..just reason enough for gautham to crack some of his signature pj’s.

Heres the four of us.

The solitary tree:

Motorcycling nirvana:

Kodava country:

Next stop was abbey falls. By this time, the weather grew a tad bit hot and considering the type of clothing we packed, lets just say it was perfect for ooty and not coorg, we did get some heat..

Lemme tell u something about abbey falls. Its named after an English general’s daughter who slipped and fell to her death at this spot. The reason sounded good enough for us to check it out. The falls is located in a private estate of a bloody rich coorgie man..

The walk down to the falls was thru stone steps which showed it sage. The whole thing was covered with greenery everywhere.. evenup !! The trees formed very cosy foliage and the temperatures fell once inside. The importance of trees people. !!!!

The walk:

Sathya walking !!!!!! omg !!

Four headed monster !!!

The falls:

The falls was pretty big and the water fell frm a height of around 50-70 ft. not much water but enough to sustain a continuous flow and a steady waterfall noise. A long hanging suspension bridge welcomed us at the end of the stone pathway. The bridge in itself was good lookin and gelled well with the overall atmosphere.

We just generally goofed around on the bridge.

The gate which allowed us to get down to the falls was locked and as a result sathya jumped the gate , I couldn’t cuz I wasn’t sure of the footing so decided to go down another way. Arvind and gautham followed sathya..

Our goofing off was not to stop at the bridge, we brought it down here as well. Sathya and arvind engaged in some trick photography while gautham and I snapped away near a fallen tree..

‘trick ‘ photography.::

The art clock on the way to abbey falls.:
After an hour at abbey falls we decided to get going cuz time was off the essence and so treaded on to talacauvery.

The road wasa typical mountain-climb and interspersed with unfinished roads and pot-holed variants of the road. Mid-way arvind gave sathya goosebumps when he gave us the idea of going on to mangalore.!!! Sathya freaked, objective achieved, we moved on.
We passed thru many plantations such as coffee and pepper.
The road was a beauty ..

After around 45 mins of biking , we reached talacauvery. The ongoing construction work robbed the place of the beauty which was almost stolen by the sun. the last time I visited talacauvery, it was very very cold and it was very very foggy. It was contrasting this time around.

The temple premises were clean and the stone was heated up thanks to the sun.

After a few photographs and some prayers, the flight of stairs leading to the top of the hill invited us.
nothing much to do on top , just to check out tangential trees on the way and to make fun of sathyas windmill production.. after a few snaps, off we head down. the steps r burning by now.

On the way, we found a small store where we bought coorg condiments like honey, spices etc. the next stop was the hotel. n after a brief lunch, started off, only to find that my bike had a flat.

^^man.. the assless warrior !!!

in the meantime, we took a few pics at the hotel..

once my ride had two non holed wheels, we bid adieu to coorg.. and headed for mysore..

the ride down to mysore was one of the best rides of my life not to forget the most eeriest!.. stick around..

parting shots ::
