Himachal Govt in association with Forest Dept. offers accommodation facility in form of deluxe tents and cottages. Tents may be a bit too cramped for honeymoon and hence it might be wiser to opt for the more spacious cottages. Resort offer 2 nights 3 day package for Rs. 6,000 and that includes all meals. Tents are bit more economical at Rs. 4,000. You can check more details here at their website.
Coorg: Ooty and Kodai have been traditional honeymoon destinations in South India. Unfortunately, they can get monotonous and crowded. Coorg is a better bet as it has managed to remain unspoilt. To make the best of estate stays and to get a discount, you can schedule your stay during week days. Coorg is quite close to Bangalore (250 KM). The resort offers good cottage accommodation at Rs. 800/- per day. Excellent option for young couples to enjoy themselves and admire the rich flora and fauna. You can combine Tyda honeymoon with a beach stay at Rishikonda, which is just 8 kms from Vizag. Rishikonda has an excellent beach and AP Govt run Punnami resort is a good budget option. Beach Honeymoon Ideas
Sun, sand, surf...they all add up. We shortlist four beach honeymoon ideas - Devbag, Gokarna, Kerala Backwaters & Andamans. Stay at any of these destinations should cost less than Rs. 10,000/- (Around $300)
1. Devbagh Beach Resort: This is an excellent resort run by Junglelodges (A Government of Karntaka undertaking). Devbagh is a small-secluded island with untouched, virgin beaches. Panoramic casurina groves provide an ideal backdrop. Accommodation is in the romantic log huts. The ambience, private secluded island and the cosy log huts make it a great beach honeymoon destination. Activities such as water sports and snorkelling are available at an additional cost, at the resort and in the season. The best thing to do while on a beach honeymoon is to lie on a hammock (every log hut has a hammock) and watch the sea through the gaps between the trees. As it is a secluded island, long walks on the private beach are possible and in low tide one can walk a considerable distance into the sea.
The best season is from October to May. Resort is generally open all thru the year except during heavy monsoons (July). Devbagh is near Karwar (on the Mumbai – Trivandrum Konkan railway). From Mumbai, it is an overnight journey and for those from Delhi and up north, New Delhi - Trivandrum Rajdhani Express is ideal. Bookings for the resort can be made thru’ Jungle Lodges office and on their website . Stay with food and other facilities cost Rs.1,900 per person per night and should fall within your budget. Rooms are not luxurious, but the ambience, privacy and a private beach make up for it. Head to Devbagh for a picture perfect romantic beach honeymoon.
2.Gokarna :The famous "OM beach" is a pristine white beach in Gokarna. While Gokharna offers all that made Goa popular, the crowds are nowhere comparable to that in Goa. For a great beach honeymoon, you can stay at Om Beach resort . The tariff at the resort is Rs.1,500 per person per night and facilities are better than many budget resorts. Gokarna is pretty much a round-the-year honeymoon destination but it gets muddy in Monsoons.
Gokarna is on the Konkan railway and the beach is a bit away from the town at 9 Kms(Autorickshaws ply from the railway station). Those coming from Bangalore can take overnight train to Hubli and reach Gokarna by bus (Around 4 Hours by bus from Hubli). Head to Gokarna, if you plan to have quiet beach honeymoon without compromising on creature comforts.
3.Kerala backwaters : Houseboat cruise are romantic and a perfect way to spend your honeymoon. There are more modern houseboats with Air Conditioner and powered by motor engine. However, the best ones are those powered by the experienced pole man - they are quiet and has an earthy charm. As the houseboat moves gently you can enjoy the scenic beauty of Kerala backwaters.
