Goa Accommodation
Accommodation options at Goa are available across the entire spectrum - from beach shacks, budget hotels to some of the most luxurious hotels. Most of the up-market resorts are in South Goa ,while North Goa offer simple budget accommodation that are popular with back packers.
For most part of the year, finding the right accommodation at the right price should not be an issue – except during Christmas fortnight when almost all hotels get over booked and tariff shoots up.
Tourism History
Goa shot into prominence as hippie centre - Westerners who gave in to the charms of Goa to escape the harsh realities of Vietnam War and its aftermath. With Hippes came liberal life style, all night trance parties and devil may care attitude. Much has changed now, the hippies have dwindled, Government has come down harshly on rave parties - but the spirit of Goa, "sussegado" (which loosely translates to "take it easy") continues.
