Anjuna Beach, Goa
Anjuna beach is incredibly beautiful and was the most happening of all the beaches during the hippie era. After the major crack-down by police, Anjuna beach is pretty sober these days. Memories of the era gone by are visible in form of ageing hippies, the popular but tame Wednesday Anjuna flea market and impromptu techno dance parties that are organized on full moon days
Anjuna Beach
Hippies or no hippies, it is undeniable that Anjuna is one of the most beautiful of all of Goan beaches. Anjuna beach is pretty long at nearly 2 Kms. Beach can be divided into North, Middle and South Anjuna beach. Much of the action is centered around North Anjuna beach in Demello Soronto and St. Anthony Vaddo. Mid Anjuna beach is where the famous flea market is hosted every wednesday. South Anjuna beach is pretty dirty and not attractive

Anjuna Wednesday flea market is an institution in itself. Legend has it that it was started by Eight Finger Eddie, considered father of Goan hippie culture. The flea market started as a place for tourists to sell or exchange their belongings - from guitars to jewellery, and electronic items to clothing.
Today, Anjuna Flea Market is a much tamer affair with Tibetians and Lamanis occupying most of the stalls selling clothing, ornaments, handicrafts etc
Anjuna flea market timings: Every Wednesday from 9am till dusk. If you are staying at other parts of Goa, be prepared for traffic jams near Anjuna village. It might be better to catch the ferry to Anjuna rather trying to reach Anjuna beach by road
