What an opportunity wasted!
This guest house has everything going for it. It is situated near Bangalore and therefore attracting tourists will not be an issue. It has a good location and an heritage that few heritage hotels can boast. In this very building, Jawaharlal Nehru had stayed. It is a old colonial building and with some effort even the interiors can be made to look very authentic. But that is not the way it is today. Instead of Government making this into a true blue heritage hotel, it remains a non descript guest house of Horticulture Department. Anyway let me help others who want to stay at this place. 1. You need to book in advance by going to Horticulture department at Lal bagh. No sir, a telecall will not do - visit in person Important : Book the highest tariff rooms - They are all affordable 2. Rooms are average and clean too. Pay a small tip and people will clean the room, toilet etc 3. Food is served for inmates. Do not expect 6 course dinner - food served is edible. 4. Nandi hills gets crowded by day trippers. After 7 PM, it becomes quiet and stay at this guest house ensures that you can enjoy the beauty of Nandi Hills 5. In the morning, the view from the opposite Mayura restaurant is something that should not be missed. All in all recommend this place for budget weekend. |
