Thalassery, also known as Tellicherry,is a beach destination close to Bangalore. Given that it is not particularly touristy, the crowds are less.

Key attractions at Thalassery

• Muzhapilangad beach : This calm and serene beach is popular as the drive-in beach as you can drive down the entire length of 4 Kms
• Thalassery Fort : Magnificent square structure built of laterite stones. The fort overlooks the sea and offers breath-taking views. The fort has secret tunnels to the sea and intricately carved huge doors - great to explore the fort at leisure
• Mahe , the former French outpost. Being an union territory, prices of liquor are lesser here compared to other places in Kerala
• Udaya Kalari Sangam on Chombol beach (Tel: +91 - 9446642954) where you can see ancient Kerala martial art - Kalaripayattu in action

• Bangalore > Mysore > Gundlupet >Suthanbathery > Mananthavady > Koothuparamba > Thalassery
• The other option via Kutta (in Coorg district) is not suggested as road condition is pretty bad
• By train
• Trains to Cannonore stop at Thalassery. Train Timings
• Train No. 16527 starting from Yeshvantpur at 8PM is most suitable for weekend trip.
