Chandigarh is a very beautiful city. It is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana, but the city itself is not part of either state, being a union territory, administered directly by the Central government.
By Train Route
Chandigarh has a small railway station located about 10 km. away from the Interstate Bus Terminus. Regular train connections are available to the national capital New Delhi and to some other junctions like Kalka, Ambala, Amritsar, Bhiwani, Howrah, Mumbai, Chennai, Trivandrum and Sri Ganganagar.

Chandigarh has an equally good connectivity via road. It is a
240 km drive from Delhi, the road comprising mainly of NH 1 is quite good. Chandigarh serves as a gateway to the state of Himachal Pradesh. Distance from New Delhi - 240 kms, Shimla - 110 kms,. Manali- 320kms,. Dehradun - 175 kms,. Amritsar - 250 kms.

Rock garden designed by Nek Chand. One day 36 years ago, After his normal working day Chand worked at night, in total secrecy for fear of being discovered. When they did discover the garden, local government officials were thrown into turmoil. The creation was completely illegal - a development in a forbidden area. However, rather than demolishing the garden, they decided to give Nek Chand a salary so that he could concentrate full-time on his work, plus a workforce of fifty labourers. The park is open daily from April to September between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. Between October and March, it is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m.
Rose garden of Chandigarh, India is the largest of its kind in Asia. Named after India's former President, Zakir Hussain, this beautiful garden was set up in 1967 with the support of Chandigarh's first Chief Commissioner, late Dr M S Randhawa. Chandigarh rose garden contains more than 17,000 plants. There are nearly 1,600 varieties of roses over there. It is a spacious garden covering an area of 27 acres.
Sukhna Lake is 3 kilometre rainy fed lake created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, is a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills.
People generally come here for a morning or evening walk. It consists of an eating place, children's park. It also has facility for boating and rafting for the adventure seekers.
The club management takes care to provide facilities for water sports and recreational activities.
The lake, incidentally, has Asia's longest water channel for rowing and yachting.
Pinjore Gardens - Pinjore Gardens, also called Yadavindra Gardens are 20 km from Chandigarh, 15 km from Panchkula, on the Chandigarh Shimla road. The work of creating Pinjore gardens began in the seventeenth century. It covers a total area of 100 acres. Chandigarh Pinjore Garden serves as the venue for hosting the annual event of mango festival. The garden houses a mini zoo, historic places, Japanese garden, nursery and a number of picnic spots.
Chandi Mandir - mandir is a very famous temple located at a distance of about 15 kms from the city of gardens. It is situated about 10 kms away from the Mansa Devi Shrine.
During the festivity of Navratras, thousands of people visit this temple. When it comes to Chandigarh excursions, visiting the Chandi Devi mandir is like a must.
