Image Raigad was the capital of empire ruled by Chhatrapati Shivaji and the Raigad Fort provides insights into Maratha history. During monsoons, the ropeway ride becomes enjoyable as it traverses through thick mist.


Reaching there: Drive to Mahad on NH17 (Goa National Highway). Raigad is less than 40 Kms from Mahad.

Key attraction at Raigad is the fort which was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s kingdom. Prior to making Raigad as the Capital, Rajgad near Bhandardhara used to Shivaji’s Capital. Currently the fort is in ruins, yet it provides interesting insights into Maratha history.

One can climb the Fort or take an easy 4-minute ride on the ropeway. Ropeway is manages by Jog Engineering. Their site provides details of ropeway and also has rich write-up on Raigad fort
